Mugwort

 Artemisia Vulgaris

Women’s Health

  • Mugwort has an affinity for a women’s womb space

  • Mugwort brings us deep into our centre. It helps bring the medicine from all the herbs that it is combined with into the deepest tissues of the body and guides us return to ourselves.

  • Mugwort acts as a relaxant and is supportive for girls at puberty when periods can be very painful and bleeding excessively long and heavy. By its heat, mugwort reduces menstrual loss by drying up excessive blood.

  • If taken hot, it will help bring on a delayed period.

  • Mugwort is a bitter which means it stimulates the liver, which explains the blood cleansing action.

  • Mugwort helps to heal the pelvic area regardless of the root cause

  • Mugwort oil rubbed over the womb and ovaries area can help dissolve cysts.

Emotional Support

  • Mugwort is a door opener, a way finder

  • Mugwort is associated with the third eye which gives us our intuitive powers.

  • It’s also associated with the throat chakra which is connected to our creativity and self expression.

  • Mugwort helps a woman to connect to her own source of strength and powers, to her own resources.

  • It helps to unblock ambition and helps the leader within emerge.

  • Encourages women to connect to the divine feminine within.

  • Can be used for dreams and for astral travel

Synergy

  • Use with cramp bark to help reduce menstrual cramps.

  • Use with ginger and pennyroyal to promote menstruation blocked by nervous tension.

  • Use as an infusion (don’t overboil ) or powder form (250 - 500 mg/day)

  • Use mugwort in a tea or tincture for pelvic inflammatory disease, cystitis or any womb infection

  • It helps to regulate the menstrual cycle by bringing it more in line with the lunar cycle.

Tip

  • To get to know an herb, place it on your tongue.

  • Combined with any other herbal oil, mugwort will bring that oil's medicine to depths within the body that it otherwise wouldn’t get to.

  • Mugwort is included in the BREASTMASK

“It’s an incredible plant for women. It’s connected to the moon. The underside of the moon leaf looks like the moon rays. There’s a silvery sheen on it and I like to use it a lot. I’ll harvest it fresh and use it for different types of healing plant treatments on the body. It’s very cleansing for the uterus and the whole reproductive system. I wouldn’t recommend pregnant women use it as it can be very stimulating.  “
